Getting Here

Rugged Retreats lies in the valley of Sola de Bados, located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, in Catalunya, Spain. The nearest town is Figueres, famous for Salvador Dali. Barcelona 2 hours away and Perpingnan, France, 1 hour. The area has great transport links with airports, trains, motorways and bus services all making this part of Spain easily accessible.

Airports

There are a number of airports to choose from if you are coming from aboard, the nearest being Girona, Costa Brava, which is just 1 hour away. Barcelona, El Prat de Llobregat is only 2 hours away and Perpingnan, France which is just 1 hour 20 minutes.

Airports and airlines will vary depending on where you are coming from. There are many airlines to choose from eg, Ryanair, Easyjet, Veuling and Air Europa. All airports have car hire available and excellent train links.

Trains

The new high speed AVE is the quickest way to get to Figueres by train, 50 mins from Barcelona, 20 minutes from Perpingnan or from Paris in just 6 hours. If you have more time you can use the Renfe train services, the link provides details of routes, times and prices of the AVE and normal services. With prior arrangement and for a fee pick ups can be arranged. If travelling on the AVE it is advisable to book online as seats are limited and tickets are cheaper if bought in advance.

Roads

The road network across Europe has improved greatly over the last few years. If you are based in Spain, or indeed France, then travelling by car is likely. Bus Service

The closest bus treminal is located in Figueres which services Spain and the rest of Europe. From Figueres the local bus service can bring you to Lladó, this service runs four times a day and a pick up from the village can arranged in advance.

The local bus service can also be a stress free way of visiting the local towns and villages or even travelling to the coast.
